It was a frequent affair that we would go partying every weekend when we were younger. We would get ready in the jiffy and get out of the door in our five inch heels. But as we got older and we got busy juggling with busy work schedules, having a kid and preparing for our new homes, it gets harder to schedule a get together with the girls.

“Where are we at, Mama?”

As I was turning 29 this year, I wanted to go to the new Zouk which had shifted from the good old Jiak Kim Road to Clarke Quay. I secretly (okay not so secretly) wanted to flaunt about how I went to the new Zouk in my twenties. But I know myself and know that I’m not the party queen as before and needed a room for us girls to prepare and chill before heading to the club so I was googling the rooms around Clarke Quay.

I managed to find out that Swissotel Merchant Court is just a stone throw away from Zouk and what’s more, they have connecting rooms. Great for families or a large group of us.

The room of the left was decorated for my 29th birthday.

The room on the right was for Carrie’s bachelorette party before she became a Mrs.

The rooms are 30 square metres each and they were spacious enough to accommodate all of us. We basically hung out in one room. The toilet had great lighting for us to do our makeup and we even sneaked a few selfies here and there.

The mandatory photo taking after cutting the birthday cake which my mum had surprised us with.

What’s a bachelorette’s party without funny photo props?

My heart is full with these girls from school, from the internet and even from the club. It’s amazing how time flies and our strong our friendship is. I’m super grateful for these girls who have been upgraded to aunties and have been there for me when I was going through a really tough time in my life, raising Little Padthai on my own.

After a few drinks, we walked to Clarke Quay where we met some familiar faces and did the whole party hopping (perks of being a girl) from to Zouk, Capital and Phuture.

It was definitely a great idea for a place to crash after standing all night in those heels and I woke up in the comfort bed at the hotel. One of my girlfriend was not feeling too well and we headed to The Central mall beside the hotel to visit a doctor. Plus point for location and it’s near the Clarke Quay MRT.

Next year’s party would be more mellow one as we concluded that we are too old for clubbing and time spent chatting in the hotel room about marriage life, renovating our homes and kids over drinks and munchies were much more fun.

Little Padthai went home with her grandma if you are wondering all but she will be back to one day for a staycation as the family pool looks so fun and it’s near Liang Court which lots of kid friendly playgrounds and stores.
