Hotel Review: Family Traditions at The St. Regis Bali Resort
Rachie and her baby Aria review the luxurious five-star The St Regis Bali and share why you should consider this property should you decide to travel with your family.
When I got pregnant, I was quite sure I wasn’t going to travel so soon once the baby is out. I went to Hong Kong with my mother before I was too heavily pregnant to fly and two weeks before I was due, I insisted on a staycation at The St Regis Singapore to indulge myself before I delivered. The St. Regis Singapore was also where I had taken my maternity shoot at.
Fast forward a few months later, the avid traveler in me realised that I badly needed a holiday. Besides, it is good to bring baby out to explore a new environment. I booked the tickets in the middle of the night and counted down to our getaway to paradise, sweet sunny Bali. We were warmly greeted by the staff from The St. Regis Bali Resort once we touched down at Ngurah Rai International Airport and were whisked away to the resort which is just 15 minutes away from the airport. It was like a full circle, my baby was in my womb at The St Regis Singapore and now she’s in my arms at The St. Regis Bali Resort at 3 months old.
Our butler led us to our St. Regis Suite and we were astounded by how spacious it was. It was a whooping 92 square metres! There was even a little crib prepared for my baby. The luxurious suite is beautifully decorated with tropical hardwood and collectible Balinese art. If you are an avid golfer, The Bali National Golf Club could be seen from our balcony.
One thing that St Regis stood out amongst the other hotels is their Signature 24-hours St. Regis Butler Service. I had my baby bottles sterilised for me, our morning lattes served with delicious chocolate chip cookies on the side and my dresses perfectly pressed. My butler was so genuine and paid attention to subtle details such as bringing a whole carton of still mineral water on his own accord as he knew how much water we needed to prepare for the baby’s milk and replenishing our fruit basket when he came by for another errand. No request was too small or unattainable no matter the hour of the day.
If that was not all, I could email my eButler. I sent an email to The St. Regis Butler Service to help me to arrange for babysitting services, book private yoga for myself and massage at Remede Spa for my mother as a surprise and it was done without my mother suspecting anything.

The bathtub was so spacious, it made bath time super fun for my water baby Aria. She swam around in her float and there was plenty of space for her even though I was inside the tub with her.

Lush greenery surrounding the hotel premises.
There were too many activities to do at The St Regis Bali Resort. We stayed two nights and I still felt that I have not explored the St Regis Bali Resort. During the mornings, we would go for a walk around the beach and lagoon area, baby Aria would then fall asleep in my Tula and we head for breakfast at Boneka.

Pristine white sand and crystal clear waters on the private beach.
We were spoilt for choices at the restaurants available in the premises of the resort. For Asian inspired Haute Cuisine facing the beach, there is Kayuputi then grab some light bites at Gourmand Deli. If you are looking for local Indonesian fare, head over to Dulang. Indulge in international buffet at Boneka or have a relaxing afternoon tea or evening cocktails at King Cole Bar. The choices are aplenty! The restaurants come highly recommended on the 10 Best Restaurants in Nusa Dua on Tripadvisor. We practically don’t have to leave the resort at all.
Afternoon Tea at King Cole Bar
Once we checked in and baby settled down for an afternoon nap, I wasted no time and dragged my mother to go for Afternoon Tea at King Cole Bar. It was highly recommended by our Butler and I could see why even tourists who are outside guests made the effort to come here for Afternoon tea.
We were served a two tiered serving platter of sweet and savoury treats. These pastries are the perfect pairing with the extensive tea menu.
Afternoon tea is never complete without scones and clotted cream. One of my favourites was the lobster tart. The filling was smooth and creamy with a buttery crust. I had a leisurely afternoon catching up with my mother over tea, meringues and gelato. Something that we have not done in a while since the arrival of the baby. The white chocolate fountain was the sweet ending to it.
Once you have a kid, it can be difficult to have indulge in a good meal. You have your hands full, trying to tend to your hyperactive baby. However, my mother and I found it so easy to eat like a king at Boneka every morning at breakfast. We always leave Boneka with a massive food coma!
Breakfast at Boneka
Breakfast at Boneka is served in three ways. Firstly, you can take your pick from the wide variety at the buffet spread from antipasti, salads, hot food items, carving stations, live stations, seafood on ice, bread, cheeses and the most fabulous array of desserts.

Besides exploring the buffet spread, you can order your food a la minute from the decadent menu offerings such as oysters, egg nouvelle, veal liver and steak with eggs. The service staff will be coming by to your table with food and drinks for you to try. How should I describe the service at Boneka? Impeccable! The food and drinks just kept coming and our table was soon filled to the brim. My favourite would be the lobster omelette with lobster bisque and mixed berry smoothie. We would ordered a few servings of the same thing over and over again.

In any family vacation, a Kids Club in a hotel is godsent! The St. Regis Kids Club has created an enriching environment for children aged 4 to 12. You can sign them up for half or full-day programmes at the Children’s Learning Center for them to immerse themselves in a professional teacher led group with innovating learning activities such learning Balinese music, arts and crafts and interactive games. They get to experience the local Balinese culture too with exposure to Balinese music, costume, dance, food and storytelling!

Every evening, there will be a Fire Dance Ritual located near the hotel lobby. Baby Aria would get so fixated at the moving fire orbs, handled by the three contemporary fire dancers.

What is a holiday if you do not get some alone time to yourself? At the touch of my fingertips, I emailed my butler to arrange for babysitting services for a few hours so I could have some time for myself and my mother. It was very affordable and I knew my baby is in safe hands. As I was unable to slip away for morning yoga class, I managed to book a private yoga lesson in my room with my baby in safe distance, carried by the babysitter. I also had some time alone to explore their private beach at Nusa Dua on my own, soaking every bit of the sun and soothing waves.
Whenever I visit a St. Regis property, I made it a point to visit their Remède Spa. As a spa aficionado, I find that the best massages I’ve had are at the Remède Spa. Indulge yourself in their bespoke menu of treatments, from their customised massages, indulgent manicures, and rejuvenating facials. Since I was in Bali, I decided to try the Javanese Healing which starts with a full body massage using custom Javanese massage technique to ease the muscle aches while stimulating the lymphatic and vital energy systems. The session ends off with an energizing Reiki session and I left the spa feeling restored and energised, something I haven’t felt in a long time since I was pregnant.

In the evenings, we would watch the sunset on the beach and count our blessings. It was a great zen vacation where we “eat, play and love”. Eat like a king at Boneka, play with the baby (we discovered her first giggles at The St. Regis Bali Resort) and love myself more by having some alone time for myself so I can love my baby more.
What do you think of our vacation at The St Regis Bali Resort, Baby Aria?
She has not learnt how to speak yet but I think from the look on her face, you can tell that it was a totally relaxing and chill out trip.
Rates at The St. Regis Bali Resort starts from USD400 a night. The St. Regis Bali Resort is a great place to experience the rich and inviting Balinese culture with your family. There was just so many family activities to do, we did not set foot out of the resort for 3 days. Travelling with a baby can be daunting but it was such a smooth sailing family vacation with the 24 hours Butler Service, super accommodating service staff who have acceded to our every request and babysitting services at the St. Regis Bali Resort. We will definitely be back at The St. Regis Bali Resort again. I would love for her to explore Children’s Learning Center when she is of age.
