Hotel Review: Pullman Vung Tau
We review the newly launched five-star Pullman Vung Tau and share why you should consider this property should you decide to explore Vung Tau.
For the uninitiated, Vung Tau probably sounds unfamiliar to the average Singaporean, but babygirls, it is a beach destination in Vietnam you shouldn’t rule out just yet. An hour and a half commute from Ho Chi Minh City, Vung Tau is accessible and affordable; It is a beautiful scenic getaway without the crowds.
Vung Tau’s Back Beach
While it doesn’t boast ultra clear waters like Langkawi in Malaysia, it is nevertheless a quiet escape perfect for short three day two night holidays from Singapore. And if we’ve convinced you so far to give Vung Tau some consideration at the very least, may we highly recommend that you stay at the luxurious and contemporary Pullman Vung Tau.
Reception of Pullman Vung Tau
This property is the first international brand five-star hotel in the city. The hotel offers 356 rooms and suites with views of the Front Beach and Back Beach. If you’re a frequent traveller, Vung Tau offers all the creature comforts you would desire. Stable and fairly fast WiFi (complimentary of course) throughout the hotel, stunning and modern design with beautiful facilities and luxe guest rooms all comes at an affordable price.
Waiting at the Lobby during check-in
Pullman Vung Tau is an atrium-style hotel
Vung Tau is as laid-back as it gets and service happens at a more leisurely pace. So don’t expect things to run with clockwork efficiency, but that shouldn’t be a problem during your stay. If you’re visiting Vung Tau on holiday, I’m sure it is to unwind, so take a chill pill and just appreciate the hotel and its marvellous design. You’ll also get a nice cold welcome drink to indulge in while you wait.
What will truly blow you away is how lovely and spacious the guest room is complete with a large writing desk, flat screen television and living area with a sofa and side table.
Deluxe Room with 2 Single Beds
Sofa and coffee table in guest room
We booked the Deluxe Room with 2 Single Beds and that was an amazing 40sqm (not something you’ll find at a city holiday). We haven’t even mentioned the en-suite bathroom that is practically one third the size of the large room with a standing rain shower and hand shower (no tub though, girls).
A glass panel peers into the guest room and makes the bathroom look even bigger than it is and wonderfully lit. If it is not a romantic stay for two and a fun-filled weekend trip with girlfriends instead, a blind can be rolled down for modesty.
A full selection of toiletries are provided from shampoos, conditioners to body gels and lotions plus the full works like shower caps, toothbrush sets (the nice ones), cotton buds and pads.
Enjoying a quiet moment at the pool
Corniche Ultra Lounge
What’s a getaway to a luxurious property like the Pullman Vung Tau if there isn’t the finer things in life? Relax at the hotel pool, sit back with a savour a wine at the bar lounge or work out at the well-equipped fitness centre. While cocktails are decent at the hotel’s Corniche Ultra Lounge, they’re not exceptionally impressive. If you’re looking for something special, you’ll probably have a bit more luck in Ho Chi Minh City. That said, full marks for ambience.
Our rate did not include buffet breakfast, but if yours does, you’ll be able to kickstart your day in the comfort of Riviera, the hotel’s all-day dining. While we did not eat here, we found the interior design very appealing and loved the little touches of curated framed photographs lining the bright red walls.
Taking in the sights at Vung Tau’s Front Beach
Vung Tau’s main attractions are its Front and Back Beaches and the Pullman is just a five to ten minute stroll from the Back Beach, where plenty of dining options and seafood restaurants abound. About twelve minutes away from the hotel by taxi, you’ll find the reputable and well-loved Ganh Hao Seafood Restaurant where you’ll definitely be able to indulge in ocean-fresh catches and Vietnamese-Chinese delights.
Dining at Ganh Hao
Rates at Pullman Vung Tau start from US$77. We stayed during the hotel’s soft launch and not all the facilities were opened yet, but all-in-all the hotel is great value for money and a great place to stay at and experience Vung Tau.
