Prevention is better than cure and when it comes to hair fall this can't be more true. We discover L'Oreal's latest hair fall range and let our readers tell you whether it works or not. Plus, win L'Oreal haircare products.

Thinning hair and excessive hair fall is one of the common problems faced by Singaporean women and it’s little wonder why.

Poor nutrition (what did mom say about MSG and not eating balanced meals again?), high stress levels (one too many late nights or working overtime), a sensitive scalp either naturally or due to harsh chemical treatments (oh right, that monthly dramatic hair colouring session doesn’t seem like such a good idea on retrospect huh?) can all lead to an unpleasant situation – hair loss! Combating this truly #firstworldproblem is L’Oreal’s Fall Repair 3X series. (Read on for giveaway details.)

The Fall Repair series includes a range haircare products such as shampoo, conditioner, mask, treatment and tonic.

The shampoo and conditioner formulation is gentle on the scalp and shows remarkable results in terms of hair texture – imagine manageable hair that has wonderful flow and movement. It’s magic ingredient is Arginine Essence which works to do three things – nourish hair from the roots, restructure and strengthen your hair fibres.

An interesting product in this hair fall range would be the Fall Repair 3X Anti-Hair Fall Treatment which come in ampoules to be applied on dry or damp hair (either is fine) and massaged into the scalp and hair roots, focusing on areas showing signs of hair fall. Unlike the shampoo and conditioner, this treatment features three powerful ingredients (an additional two):

  • Arginine: Promotes hair growth through nourishing the roots
  • Aminexil: Strengthens and anchors each strand of hair from the root to prevent an reduce hair fall
  • Protein: Hair is made of keratin which is protein, so it strengthens your hair fibre making it resistant to breakage and stress

The three ingredients work hand-in-hand to help you improve the condition of your hair through encouraging repair and growth while preventing hair from falling due to weakness at the root. That’s some triple anti-hair fall action!

Each pack of the treatment comes with 12 x 8ml bottles and this should comfortably last a month of applications. The new Fall Repair 3X Anti Hair Fall Treatment retails for $39.90. Available at Watsons, Guardian, Sasa, major supermarkets and hypermarkets and selected departmental stores.

We found that the hair fall system worked very well together to create strong hair, resistant to breakage that was also easier to work fingers through – smooth, silky and obedient hair. But we decided to put ONLY the Fall Repair 3X Anti-Hair Fall Shampoo and Conditioner to the test.

Reader Reviews

Is this talk about Arginine Essence really true? Does it actually work well to strengthen hair and prevent hair loss or will it prove ineffective without supplementing with the treatment?

We invited two of The Cambelles readers and one of our writers to try out the Shampoo and Conditioner duo and give us their honest reviews! Introducing our panel of reviewers:

Faizah

IMG_3837

To achieve such pin-straight tresses, Faizah has gone for rebonding and hair straightening on a regular basis. This makes her hair drier and more prone to breakage due to the chemical treatments it undergoes on a regular basis. After rebonding and straightening, her hair tends to frizz and can be difficult to style and manage. So how did it fare?

It’s a bit dry for my hair. It isn’t as hydrating as my usual shampoo and conditioner. But I find that it makes my hair tamer and easier to manage. I have chosen to use the conditioner with my preferred shampoo and I think it’s not bad. – Faizah

VERDICT: MAYBE

Jeline

IMG_3850

Jeline often keeps her hair colour looking fresh and updated and she visits to the salon to get her hair coloured. This has resulted in her hair becoming weaker and also some hair loss from the stress of the hair dyeing process. Her scalp is oily while her hair ends are dry and brittle. Would the Hair Fall series work for her?

I think it’s good! My hair is less frizzy and more manageable. It is softer and gets detangled after washing plus the smell is nice! It smells great and also lathers well so I’ve replaced my shampoo and conditioner with L’Oreal’s Fall Repair 3X range!- Jeline

VERDICT: YES

Jolyn

Jolyn has got oily scalp and hair. She combats this by using oil-control shampoos and conditioners and she already has a current go-to haircare set. She does however, still deal with flyaways and frizziness. Can the Fall Repair 3X Shampoo and Conditioner convince her to switch over?

My hair is softer and the shampoo plus conditioner leaves my hair feeling less oily. My hair is also no longer unruly and is now tame. I find the smell of the conditioner not to my liking, but  the formula is great. – Jolyn

VERDICT: YES
