Most mornings, this is what I look like. Serious bed hair, grumpy and just needing a slap on the face. Not the most appealing look. I pity my boyfriend who has to face this grouch with Medusa hair.

Tossing and turning in bed really causes a bad case of knotting and my hair now knots and kinks easier since I bleached it last year.

I shampoo my hair daily because that’s the only way I can tame my hair early in the morning. If I don’t wash it, it tends to look unkempt and just frizzy. Even without blowdrying my hair in my daily routine, it takes me at least 20 minutes to bathe and I haven’t factored in the bare minimum of five to ten minutes on skincare and (if I am not running too late) makeup.

I don’t really want to wash my hair on a daily basis, but I guess that’s the best way to manage my hair! #firstworldproblems

Recently, I’ve found an excellent solution! Thanks to Louann from Ninemer Public Relations and Essential Damage Care, I was sent a full hair damage care regime for both day and night.

This new duo beats the previous Essential products hands down!

The Essential Leave-on Treatment Range is a really cool and innovative concept that protects and nourishes every strand of your crowning glory around the clock, all day and night. There’s a revitalising Hair Serum (for day) and Treatment Milk (for night). Use both and wake up to sleek, lush tresses every morning that stay glossy and beautiful all day.

Both treatments are formulated with cuticle care and cuticle protection ingredients that repairs and moisturises damaged hair cuticles and shield it from external stresses such as friction and humidity.

Day: Essential Hair Serum

The Hair Serum has a great floral scent and about five pumps is all I need for my hair length.

Smooth it over your tresses from mid-length till the ends. You can choose to apply it on damp or towel-dried hair for best results. It’s also recommended to apply it before blowdrying. You can also use it on dry hair.

The results are instantaneous. Look at how lush and glossy my hair is where I have applied the serum. It’s an instant perk-me-up and makes me look fresher and put together in minutes.

The serum also acts as a protective veil over hair and guards against damage from UV rays. As my hair gets dry easily, I just put this in my bag and carry it around if my hair starts looking a little too frizzy by mid-day. It’s a plus that it’s weightless and doesn’t make my hair look flat and heavy.

Night: Essential Treatment Milk

These photos are for illustration purposes, so don’t ask me why it’s bright day light and I’m looking like I’m gonna sleep! 😛

So apparently, our hair really gets damaged by our pillows and that pretty much explains why we wake up with serious bed hair. All that friction actually damages the cuticles and cause them to peel off resulting in that rough, unruly tangled mess of a mane in the morning. Mystery solved. We’ve found the culprit but what can we do about it?

The new overnight intensive repair Essential Treatment Milk acts as a night shield and protects your hair from all that damage. It forms a layer of protection over your cuticles while also strengthening and nourishing your hair through the night. Amazing stuff.

Same thing, pump out an appropriate amount from the nozzle and spread evenly onto hair from mid-length to tips. It’s recommended to apply the Essential Treatment Milk on towel-dried or damp hair.

It’s actually not gunky and non-greasy, so it’s pretty comfortable.

Don’t rinse it off! Just leave it on and go to bed!

I really enjoy using the Essential Leave-on Treatment range and find that it fits perfectly into my lifestyle. It’s not too much hassle to use and it’s available easily from leading supermarkets, hypermarkets, western pharmacies and personal care stores. Retailing at $11.90 each, they don’t cost a ton either and are very affordable.

I’m sure everyone of us girls struggle with getting the perfect head of hair in Singapore. With the high levels of humidity and risk of UV damage, it’s a wonder our tresses sometimes need a little more care – these new products from Essential are absolutely helpful in targeting those problems and I highly recommend them!
