IOMA: Personalised Skincare – Skin Analysis and Concocting my Bespoke Youth Ritual
There’s a lot of new beauty brands in town lately and one of them is IOMA, a high-end Parisian skincare brand that prescribes effective skincare solutions through the use of technology and science. IOMA promises effective products that deliver results that is measurable.
The IOMA prestige counter at Robinsons Orchard (The Heeren) is the first in Singapore. It has the IOMA Sphere 2, a sophisticated skin measuring device built using MEMS technology. MEMS (Micro Electro Mechanical Systems) is one of the most advanced sensors thats even used by NASA in space exploration. This technology is used in IOMA’s skin measuring device to accurately analyse the skin’s exact condition – be it hydration levels, pigmentation, UV damage or fine lines. The sensor is so precise it can identify skin conditions beyond the surface of the skin.
The brand has plenty of off-the-shelf skincare products that are formulated for different skin types. There are seven ranges of face products available to counter different skin problems such as Dry Skin and UV Damage, Fine Lines, Wrinkles and Lack of Firmness, Diffuse Redness, Bacterial Infections, Oily Skin and Dark Spots.
Through a detailed analysis using the IOMA Sphere 2, you will be prescribe the best combination of products to help improve your skin.
While that’s pretty impressive as it is, I was there for something even more incredible: IOMA’s Bespoke Youth Rituals.
This is a highly personalised skincare routine tailor-made to suit my skin as it is right at this very moment.
Every one’s skin is unique. Our skin condition tends to change with time. What problems we may be facing now may quickly change as we use different skincare products, go through changes in diet, stress and a whole lot of factors in our daily busy lifestyles.
IOMA’s Bespoke Youth Rituals offer a very personalised solution to skincare. We’re talking about specifically created day and night creams that double as serum and moisturiser that will only work best for you and no one else.
The premise for this is simple, you go through a very comprehensive skin analysis using the patented skin measuring device, IOMA Sphere 2, and through that diagnosis, the exact content of your youth ritual is found. The day and night cream is then concocted before your very eyes using 2 active bases and 8 serums. Let’s not jump the gun, here’s how my diagnosis went.
First I filled up a quick questionnaire with basic details of myself, then came the scan.
The machine churns out such detailed analysis results. It takes five photos to unveil skin imperfections beyond what is visible to the naked eye.
Your consultant will then diligently run through the results with you to help you understand your skin better.
The five photos show:
(1) Natural Look (Visible Light)
(2) Tone & Texture (Parallel Polarized Light)
(3) Redness (Cross Polarized Light)
(4) UV Damage (UV Light)
(5) Pore Condition (Blue Light)
You’ll also be presented with a scale of 1 to 15 (with 1 for perfection and 15 for caution) for various skin conditions like Hydration Levels, Desquamation (Skin Peeling), Fine Lines, Wrinkles, Sagging, Redness, Bacterial Activity, Clogged Pores, Bags and Eyelids, Dark Circles and Eye Fine Lines.
My main problems were:
Not spending enough time on exfoliation, resulting in a lot of dead skin cells on the surface of my skin leading to rough patches
(2) Fine Lines
(3) Bacterial Activity
Unavoidable high levels of bacterial activity due to the city environment we are in. Only solution is to keep skin clean as regularly as possible.
Lots of redness, especially on my cheeks.
Using this detailed diagnosis of my skin, I was given a prescription of 8 serums: H1, H2, H3, R1, R2, R3, R4 and R5.
The number of drops for each serum is put into the base active for day and night. This will create my bespoke youth ritual.
My consultant, Chanel, carefully mixed them before my every eyes and the excess serums are not provided in your set to prevent misuse as the serums are very concentrated.
The Active Base Day has a very lightweight and fluid texture as described. Even with a combination of 8 different serums, it doesn’t feel sticky and is very quickly absorbed. It is instantly hydrating and keeps skin moisturised throughout the day. I can feel the difference immediately.
The Active Base Night is slightly richer and creamier but still quite light compared to most night creams. It enables your skin to replenish itself during rest.
Also, the plastic bottles for both bases are air-tight to prevent contact with air on application.
Each bottle should last about 2 months and that’s just about right before you should go back for a skin check again to see how things are going and have the creams customised again to your new skin condition after using the products religiously over 2 months.
I’ll keep you ladies updated when I next pop by the IOMA counter for my next analysis!
